Rumour-mill: Criterion going back to 3DO Need For Speed roots? Alex Ward of Criterion has twittered a teasing line that could indicate they're bringing some old skool back to the franchise, but a later comment casts almost certain doubt.
He provides his twitter fans with "a return to the original 3DO version" of Need For Speed, but he adds it lists what he's playing and "not making fellas.." Be careful how you twitter I guess.

Ghostbusters on PC needs net for DRM, doesn't have online play Atari's Ghostbusters for PC is likely to be the least fun after scans of the box reveal it needs an Internet connection, but only for authentication purposes.
Unlike its Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts it has no multiplayer capability or online co-op and won't be supporting DLC. Ghostbusters releases this week in Europe, but only on PS3/PSP.

Project Natal to launch 'new' Xbox 360, here next fall? The unveiling of Project Natal means more than just an added peripheral, with sources bleating that it'll in fact herald in the next Xbox chapter.
Back alley whispers also suggest these new consoles will be branded 'Xbox Natal', with slight technological upgrades to hardware. It doesn't end the console cycle, but evolves the 360.

Mirror's Edge "very innovative and inspiring", EA confirms a sequel EA's Patrick Soderlund has confirmed the existence of Mirror's Edge 2 revealing they have a "small team on it", saying the first game was "a bold move".
The senior exec acknowledges the game "wasn't perfect by any means," but their gamble with the IP paid off. Its first-person Parkour gameplay was applauded by fans, but not much else.

Work began on FFXIII for 360 after trial demo, "PS3-only" before that Yoshinori Kitase, FFXIII producer, has revealed that while the game is heading for Xbox 360 it was only until after the trial demo launched did they have the staff.
The team reached "a point in the PS3 development" that some developers became spare to work on the Xbox 360 version, which is due for release in the US early next year.

Not 'Community Games' but 'Indie Games', Microsoft changes name Xbox Live Community Games was just too much of a mouthful to say, so corporate giant Microsoft has tweaked it some to Xbox Live Indie Games.
This is all in a bid to increase "understanding and discoverability" of titles in the service, with an announcement they will fully support user ratings for "much of" all Xbox Live content.

US game revenue slips under $1bn in May, "continues to struggle" NPD figures have revealed a gloomy statistic, US consumer spending on videogames in May fell below $1 billion, which it hasn't done since August '07.
From last year's $1.12bn, this year saw $863.3m. Hardware shrunk 30 percent, software fell 17 percent while peripherals are down 5 percent. 2009 is 'struggling' to compare with '08

Next week Sam & Max Save the World, first season arrives on XBLA Telltale Games' first episodic season of the crime fighting duo Sam & Max, which includes six self-contained adventures, arrives for Xbox 360 gamers next week.
It'll go for 1600 Microsoft Points, and for that you get a beefed up Sam & Max with improved gameplay and High Def visuals. The first season was originally for PC in '06 and '07.

Gears of War 2 PC rumours swirl, Epic's Fergusson shoots it down Recently there's been some whisperings around Gears of War 2, more specifically that it could be blasting Locust on desktops, following in the original's footsteps.
Rod Fergusson, Epic man, has confirmed this to be total tosh. He's sorry but there's no hope to be had, reiterating they've said many times there "will not be a Gears 2 PC."

E3 2009: Project Natal is late 2010 The Keighley strikes again in the twittersphere where he mentions "sources" have told him Microsoft's Project Natal "Fall 2010 at earliest."
The GTTV man also says that Molyneux had to change Dmitri to Milo because of some "trademark reasons" apparently. Project Dmitri celebrated its birthday on September 23rd.
