Before the race you need to activate your Blocker/Brawler. When you come up to a speed trap during the race press Y. Your Blocker/Brawler will stop, crash the other car(s) and really slow down their time. The best Blocker/Brawler moment is just before the speed trap.

If you want to get an extra $10,000 in Career mode then at the title screen, press:

You can repeat any races you have already finished in which a wingman is used and get $750 for each race finished instead of the $500 you get without one. You can also do this on first time races for best cash output.
