Map usage (radar and normal map) You can see a Minimap on the top right of the screen. The map shows you the region in which you are currently located. Click on + to expand the map or – to shrink the map (you can expand or shrink 2 times). The minimap shows you the location of many things in the surrounding area. - Press M to see the entire city (when in towns) or the world of Chantra (when in the wilderness)! Combat basics (Shortcuts, distances, aggro, potions...) At the bottom off the screen you can see a bar with shortcuts: - HP or Health Points are the player’s physical stamina (red gauge), which change depending on the amount of damage inflicted to your character. When this bar falls to 0 you are dead. - MP or Mana Points are the player’s magic stamina (blue gauge), this decreases as spells are cast. - Both the HP and MP bars have a slider which determines the minimum amount before a relative potion is used to replenish them. Your HP and MP will regenerate while you rest, but potions speed up this process. - Your current level and experience percentage are indicated on the left part. The experience bar (lower part of your screen) fills as your character gains more XP. This section also displays the available HP and MP potions in your inventory. To activate these, drag Health and Mana potions from your inventory (I) to the relevant slot in the status bar. - Action bar (shortcuts): All kind of function icons (skills, actions, items, etc.) can be placed via drag and drop to the shortcut bars. The fuction in the slot can then be activated or used by a simple click on it with the right mouse button or by pressing the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,-,+ keys. - There are 4 sets of action bars, labelled 1-4, each bar can be scrolled to by using the arrow keys to the left of the bar or by pressing the ¬ Key (**** + ¬ will reverse the scrolling direction). - You can temporarily activate the second bar by holding ‘Shift’ key. Learning Skills When you reach level 4 you can finally gain your first skill from your trainer. Go over to your dedicated trainer and open up the conversation window. Select Skill and the skill training window will appear. To learn an skill you must have at least 1 skill point, the correct level, and enough gold. Tip: Just like items, skills also have an information popup. Place your cursor over the skill and wait for the information to be displayed. As you can see above, you have different classes of skills: · There are Combat related skills which are good attacks. They become available at level 4. · The Buff line includes several skills that temporary boost you or your attributes or weaks the enemies. It becomes available at level 5 · The Class line is totally class restricted and gives you certain skills that only your class is able to able to use. You can start using the Class line at level 10. · The Passive line acts like her name says totally passive, you have skills that permanently increase certain abilities like Agility, Wisdom, Critical hit rate etc. They become available at level 6. Tip: Basic passive skills: - Power Surge: This skill will increase your Power stat; increases your melee attack power.
- Nimbleness: This skill will increase your Agility stat; increases your ranged attack power, attack rate, and defense.
- Intellect: This skill will increase your Int. stat; increases your magical attack power.
- Mind Boost: This skill will increase your Wisdom stat; increases your maximum MP.
- Endurance: This skill will increase your Strength stat; increases your maximum HP.
Skills, as any usable item, can be placed in your shortcut bar (except passive Skills). To do so press the 'K' button to bring up the Combat skill window, and drag and drop them to the action bar. Player versus Environment (PVE) - Placing the mouse cursor over a target will show their name and HP bar above them. Clicking on them with the left mouse button will select them and the condition window will appear at the top of the screen. - In this window you can find the type of the monster (Normal, Elemental, or Named), target’s name and their respective level, a gauge showing the remaining HP of target and the combat status (A red orb appears when you are in combat with a target). - Combat is initiated by another left-click on the target. - If the monster has elemental powers then the ‘elemental’ button appears. Clicking on this menu will show the elemental details. - Killing monsters will increase your Experience Level. However if the monster is 6 or more levels below your own then you will not gain any XP from killing them. Player versus player (PVP) - You can attack and be attacked by players from both the same and different races in ArchLord. You become eligible for PvP at level 6. - PvP will not work in certain sage zones such as villages and towns. - To attack a player you must left-click on them to select them. Then left click them again while holding the ‘Ctrl’ key to start the attack. This will change the color of their name (in Target Condition window) to red. - The attacker will receive a 1st attacker symbol above their head (purple), which makes them eligible to be freely attacked by any other player for 20 minutes.
More extensive PvP information can be found in our PvP Guide. Battle Squares They are dedicated PvP combat grounds where 1st attacker and penalties do not apply. You must be level 15 or above to enter the Battle Squares then you must click on teleportation stone with the left button. Then select ‘Battle Square’ from the pop up menu and confirm you wish to enter it by clicking the ‘Ok’ button. Monster can also be found in Battle Squares so be careful not to draw too much aggro when battling with other players. Death When you die in ArchLord you will be presented with a Revival Menu. The available options are as follows: - Revive in last visited town: Dečnding on your level, you may suffer a 3% XP loss of the XP gained during current level. You will never go below 0% XP so you will not drop levels. - Use revival item: If you have a Reverse Orb you can use it to revive where your corpse lies. Once used, you will have to wait 30 minutes before another Reverse Orb can be used. When using a Reverse Orb you will suffer no revival penalties. Equipment and Inventory management You have four bags in your inventory, where you can store diverse items. Consumable items: To use consumable items open the inventory (I) and place the mouse cursor over the item and click the right mouse button. Consumable items can also be placed on the action bar and consumed by a simple click of the right mouse button or via the appropriate shotcut key. Equipping and removing items: To equip an item open your Inventory (I) and move the mouse pointer over the desired item (item stats are displayed at this point), click and hold the left mouse button to select it. The item maybe dragged to another inventory slot or to a character equipment slot in the character window (C) Move the item to the desired slot and release the left mouse button to place the item in that slot. Some items such as Armor or Weapons can be equipped or unequipped by double clicking with the left mouse button. Item statistics: To equip an item, a character must meet the item requisites. Some items may require a certain level, race or class. Item requirements are displayed within the item stats which are shown when the mouse cursor is held over an item in the Inventory (I) or relevant character slot in the character window (C). Items stats also list the items name, its type and its upgrade rank. Upgrade rank shows Buff level limit, the number of Elemental Stones, plus the number of Reinforcement Potions that can be used on it. To upgrade an item with an elemental stone, the item must be in your Inventory (I), drag the stone onto the item slot. To use reinforcement potions you must speak to a Blacksmith NPC who can be found in some of the villages and towns. Trading and NPC sellers NPC trading: Before entering into battle, you should stock up on items you think may be needed during your travel. Take plenty of potions and projectiles if needed. For this reason, trading with a Merchant NPC is essential before setting off. - Talk to the Merchant NPC, click on ‘Buy/Sell’. You will them be presented with the Merchant’s Store and your Inventory (I). - Drag the item that you wish to purchase or sell between the Merchant’s Store and your inventory. You will be asked to confirm the trade, click ‘Yes’ to complete the transaction (if you decide against the trade click ‘No’ to cancel it). - You can also click the right mouse button on items in either the merchant’s or your own Inventory to start transaction. You will be asked to confirm the trade. Once you finished trading, click ‘Close’ button at the bottom of the merchant’s Store. Remember to make sure you really want to sell an item before confirming any transaction as you may be selling something precious or difficult to obtain again. Auctionhouse: To buy from or browse the Auction House you must visit an ‘Item Trader NPC’ who can be found in many of the villages or towns. - To sell an item in the Auction house, open your Inventory (I) and click ‘Sell’ button located underneath your Gold. This will open your sales window where you can drag items you wish to sell onto available slots. A sale price must be entered into the pop up box to complete the listing. Crafting (> lvl 7) Crafting is useful as you can create meals that give you several boost, for example a health or attack boost or you can create potions to morph you into a lot of creatures, for example Goblins, Spiders or Wolfs. Once you reach level 7 you are ready to gain the first loot skill from your local NPC Adventurer. Look for the Adventurer and start a conversation with him. Press the option Manufacture and a new window will pop-up. Ransacking is the first skill you're able to learn. As you can see in the description you gain the possibility to loot monsters to gain Items you can use for cooking and Alchemy. To learn it just press Learn like you did earlier at your skill trainer. There is also a requirement to start ransacking, you need a Gathering Knife which you can purchase from Merchant Darryl and others. When you have bought the skill and the knife, you will also need to drag the Ransacking skill into your skill bar. To do that open the Craft skill window which can be opened with 'J' on your keyboard. To learn the Ransacking skill you need to be level 7 and have 300 gold. Cooking gives us the possibility to create meals that assist and boost our abilities, for example a Health boost or an enhancement to your attack rate. To gain the cooking skills, cooking tools and recipes you have to visit a NPC Cook that are located in every bigger city. Here in Anchorville its Cook Lucy. You can purchase the basic cooking skill there which you will need to create all the meals you will learn as you progress in this skill. To learn the cooking skill you need to be level 10 and have 500 gold. Some cooking ingredients can only be obtained by using the Carving skill (similar to the Ransacking skill) on a monster corpse. You can obtain the Carving skill at level 10 for 500 gold at your local Adventurer NPC. Alchemy is first available with level 15 and gives you the possibility to create Metamorphosis potions which are able to morph you into a lot of creatures. If you want to learn the required skills you need to visit an Alchemist and learn the basic Alchemy skill and buy yourself an Alchemy cauldron. To be able to collect the needed resources for the potions you have to learn further Loot skills from the adventurer. In the case of Alchemy, this skill is Skinning (costs 1000 gold, requirement is level 15). Once you learned the skills you will need to loot the creatures, you kill to gain items which are needed for the potions. To learn the Alchemy skill you must be level 15 and have 1,000 gold. Like the Loot skills, basic Alchemy and Cooking skills are available in your Crafting Skill window (J) and you also have to drag them to your skill bar. Last but not least, you could class Item Combinating under crafting. There are quite a few manuals spread over Chantra (essentially monster loot) that will allow players to create weapons and accessories. Take a look at our Item Combination Guide [link under construction] for more information about it. Additional Tips- Quests rewards can be very useful to your character, if you enjoy doing quests you should keep checking around town for new quests. Additional quests become available as to level up and complete quests.
- When you are hunting you should consider joining, or forming a party. Party members automatically loot items, which saves time and prevents the loss of items due to decay. Additionally when you are in a party you gain a bonus to your HP and MP, which is always helpful.
- You shouldn't wander too far away from the starting town during your first few levels. Monsters get progressively harder the further away from town you are.
- When you reach level 6 the world becomes more dangerous. You will suffer an EXP debt when you die and respawn in a town. Also when you reach level 6 you will be able to attack other players, and other players will be able to attack you.
- Never share your account information with other players.
- Never loan your items to another player unless you are absolutely sure you can trust that person to return the item.
