As a dual class (close/range) I've noticed that different classes have to hunt in completely different ways. This can lead to frustration when class etiquette for one group does not work for another...
When I'm leveling my close skill, i prefer to move as little as possible. When someone kills a monster standing right next to me, instead if one 8-10 steps away from me, it slows my leveling (and irritates me).
But....
When I'm leveling my range skill, i have No Use for the monster right next to me. I prefer to attack the one at the edge of my bow range, so i can get in more free hits before i have to kite or take damage.
So i guess what I'm saying is if your sharing space with a warrior don't pick off the stuff nearest them if other monsters are available.
And ....
If you're sharing space with an archer, take out the stuff next to them (that they are not already attacking of course) rather than killing off all the stuff at the edge of their range.
I have no experience as a magic user yet but i tend to treat them like archers and try to leave them stuff farther away....
please feel free to toss in your two bits worth, tell me I'm wrong, or whatever, any feedback would be appreciated.

Yeah that sounds good, if I had to put it in any way it'd be the same, so anyways, magic, can be long range, and close but its actually magic, in anyway at all..>_>
