i need crosshair help

Can someone please teach me how to use a custom crosshair, i download the pictures into my customs folder, but when i start gunz and go to misc. and choose my crosshair, the one i put in my custom crosshair folder is'nt there, is there a certain format that i have to place my crosshairs in, or what?
