It may say 5 damage, but it sends more than one shot, like 10 - 15 shots at one time.  I'm one minute late...

You have five shots in every round, and i think there is around 5-6 clips, so that's 25-30 shots in total.

That's what I always do, or else i kill em with revolvers. Revolvers are for long, shotties for the close range. Shotties ftw!
