It's kinda hard to upgrade a laptop, especially the CPU. Since it's a laptop, everything's much smaller and you kinda have to use a magnifying glass for certain things. The answer to your question is - yes. You can upgrade that comp, it wouldn't be a problem. HP said you can do it because it's physically possible, just that it's VERY hard and you really have to know what you're doing. My suggestion is that you buy a new one and keep the celeron as a backup. Considering that it's 1.2, going from celeron to p3 isn't going to make much of a difference. Sorry I can't be of much more help =(

Sorry I can't be of much more help =( | Yeah you will get a minor performance upgrade from a cel to a pentium. Rule of thumb is sharing the love to all your components of your laptop. Instead of upgrading the cpu try upgrading the memory. Its the cheapest and easiest way to get a performance boost in any situation. For most laptops the memory is usually located on the bottom of the laptop. Get a phillips screwdriver and open that baby up and upgrade away. If your not sure on what type of memory to get look up your model here www.pny.com/configurator good luck!
