But since you have $5000 to spend, might as well get the best AlienWare out there :P
I still prefer customizing my own Intel Core 2 Duo.

$5000USD, for a computer? Right now my budget is $1000AUD (Aus dollar) and i could get a decent gaming computer, first let me give you some points on where you can cut back on spending: Quote:
Alienware® P2 Chassis with AlienIce™ 3.0 Video Cooling - Space Black Alienware® Standard System Lighting - Astral Blue System lighting? What are you gonna use your PC for looking at it or using it?
Alienware® Standard System Cooling Alienware® 1000 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power SupplyNothing like a 1000W power supply you'll need it for the 8800GTX you got in your gaming rig
| Quote: | 768MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8800 GTX - Graphics Processor Right now its ok for a 8800GTX but wait 6 Months when all the SUPER GODLY DirectX 10 cards come out, your old 8800GTX will look like a piece of crap.
| Quote: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz 2MB Cache 800MHz FSB - Processor Maybe consider a AMD Processor for gaming like this one AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor. 4 GB DDR2 Performances SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 x 1024MB - RAM Don't get scammed on this one if you are planning to use Windows Vista it won't take up 4GB Ram nor will it recognize it the max amount of RAM Vista will recognise you have is around the 3.4GB Mark
| Quote: Alienware® Approved NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI Motherboard Cut back on the advertising any NVIDIA nForce SLI Chipset will do. OS – Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium*FLASH* Get a Windows XP Professional for now *hint* You might consider a pirated one 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ 16MB Cache - Hard Drive Nothing like a huge HDD to store all those movies and game on. 20X Dual-Layer DVD±RW Disk Drive Killer K1 Gaming Network Interface Card Although im not sure what a "gaming network interface card" is try finding a generic brand after all a name like
"Killer K1 Gaming Network Interface Card" is gonna cost a killing amount of money
| Quote: 20'' Samsung 1680 x 1050 SyncMaster Widescreen Flat Panel - Monitor I am more then sure that you could get a 20" Widescreen flat panel for less then the one they include.(NOTE: All flat panels are all made by Chimea, all those big ass companies like LG, SAMSUNG, BENQ all just buy the dam things and rebrand them, so weather your buying a SAMSUNG, LG, Alienware branded, their all made made but the same company Chimea.....) Alienware® USB Full-Size Keyboard
Alienware® Optical 3-Button Mouse with Scroll Wheel
Whats so good about alienware keyboard and mouse? If you really want a good laser mouse i suggest you get LOGITECH G5, and any logitech keyboard AlienRespawn v2.0 Recovery DVD – Windows Vista Edition This is BS i suggest you use a more reliable brand of recovery like Norton Ghost *hint* again piracy?*
| Hey still at the end of the day if you've got the cash its up to you personally i care about specs not the looks of a PC, after all are you gonna look at your PC or are you gonna use it? Its just my opinion...
Last but not least Anti-Virus protection, although no, one anti-virus is going to protect you 100%, consider using these brands:
Kapersky Internet Security 7.0
Nod32 2.7
AVG
Outpost firewall
Zonealarm Firewall

Wow. Thanks for the info. Pick out good parts for a computer. I might just build my own computer instead.

=\ I'm thinking of just buying parts. Making my own comp. BUT the bad side about it is that I won't know which drivers I need. I wouldn't know how to format it...

I don't suggest you build a computer straight from scratch, you could save even more money if you salvage some parts from you current computer, such as HDD (Hard Disk Device), Floppy Disk Device? (If anyone still uses those), DVD Burner if you have one.
I recommend you go to a factory outlet to get the cheapest deals on PC peripherals, as for the drivers with each piece of hardware you purchase they come with drivers of their own, and as always building your own computer is the smart way to go
a) You save money (getting one of the pre-built computers cost labor)
b) You get experience, you learn how to put together a computer
c) You can brag to your friends =]

I hope you do realize that Alienware over-price all of their products.

You could customize your own Intel Core 2 Duo Configurator and post it here and we can give you some opinions.
