The whole point in training is to do damage to the spot you want to get stronger at, then it will heal and regrow bigger and stronger.
so yes, if you punch a hard wall a lot, your fists will hurt a lot at first, but after a while of doing it, it will stop hurting. thus, you will be able to punch people without hurting yourself, thus punching harder. if youre just starting, do pushups on your knuckles until you can do at least 150 a day at least thats how i started..i dont work out anymore though.

If you want your punches to be strong you have to have muscles on your hand
Try going to gym or juz do push-ups in sets like 20 x 3 times or so.

I love the idea's and yes you do get stronger by damaging your body but do you sugest if i want stronger bones i should break them ? No. Push ups on the ground is a great idea building your muscle in your fist . Buy a hand gyro for 30 $ Its a bit of money but they work GREAT. There's two kinds of punches impact and a sting. For an impact punch you got to be built having muscle knocks them back. However a sting punch i find is deadly it hurts then gets worse. To achieve this punch you need practise, you need to have proper form for a jab(my favourite punch) and in the end it depends on your knuckles. Now im one of the scronier guys i hang out with i can out bench them do more sit ups and that because i dont weight train i body weight train. Witch builds strenth not mass. Having decent muscle in your fore arm would be a good idea too. You can achieve forearm strength by simply doing farm work , carying gorceries etc. Good luck and take your strength as a privledge not a right. You will lose it if you dont work for it.

Get toned then buff.

Hmm still having a sloppy muscle build for some people will be like ZOMG YOU ARE GOD then others will turn around no fat on there body perfectly tone and they looks ALOT better. It through perspective , 6 no name beers or 4 corona's you choose.
