Practically, I'm going to waste a few minutes of my life teaching you guys how to jailbreak an iPhone/iPod Touch so you can install cracked applications....
....without using Winpwn or Pwnage Tool or anything like that.
Now before I go on, here's what you guys will need.
- an iPod Touch/iPhone (obviously)
- QuickPwn 2.1
- Firmware 2.0.1 or later
- Total Commander
- A Modified version of MobileInstallation.framework, which can be downloaded here: Code: http://rapidshare.com/files/145039267/Mobile_Installation_1.0_and_2.1.zip
Alright, now that we've gathered up the necessary equipment, it's time to go pawning.
Okay, before you begin the process, make sure that your iPod Touch/iPhone is installed with the selected firmware you are jailbreaking with and that you have a "spare" copy of that firmware.
Usually when you download updated firmwares via iTunes, it will automatically be stored in a folder that QuickPwn will guide you to.
If you don't have a "copy" of your firmware,
iPod Touch Firmware 2.0.1 Code: http://rapidshare.com/files/130272412/iPod1_1_2.0_5A347_Restore.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/130276903/iPod1_1_2.0_5A347_Restore.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/130278439/iPod1_1_2.0_5A347_Restore.part3.rar
iPod Touch 2.1.1 Firmware: Code: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/SBML/osx/bundles/061-5494.20080909.8i9o0/iPod2,1_2.1.1_5F138_Restore.ipsw
iPhone 2.0.2 Firmware: Code: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-5246.20080818.2V0hO/iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw
Alright, now that we've got the firmware, let's start pawning.
Firstly, we obviously need to download Quickpwn. Code: http://rapidshare.com/files/146944307/quickpwn21-1.zip
Once downloaded, make a folder on your desktop and unzip/unrar Quickpwn into that folder.
Now that it's unrar'd, open up Quickpwn.
MAKE SURE YOUR iPOD TOUCH/iPHONE IS CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER VIA USB VIA THE BACK USB PORTS ON YOUR PC BEFORE OPENING QUICKPWN.
AND WINDOWS VISTA USERS, RUN QUICKPWN AS ADMINISTRATOR. However, after double-clicking to open Quickpwn even if your iPod Touch/iPhone is connected via USB, some of you might get a screen like this:
However, just click the arrow to get going. NEXT STEP!!! Browse for the firmware that your iPod Touch/iPhone is installed with and double click on it.
In this case, I'm using firmware 2.0.2, but don't worry, I'll be upgrading soon. For the rest of you guys, your firmware should be at least 2.0.1 or later.
When quickPwn approves your firmware, there should be a big tick next to the iPod Touch. Now Click the next arrow.
Here on the next screen, you'll be asked if you want to add Cydia, Installer and to replace the boot logos. Keep the Cydia and Installer options ticked, but I'd recommend unticking the boot logo option (for reasons of warranty and bricking^^)
After that, you'll see a screen saying to make sure that your device is connected, just continue if it is.
Finally, you'll see a set of on-screen instructions on how to enter your iPod Touch/iPhone into DFU mode.
Follow those instructions, and once your iPod Touch/iPhone has finished rebooting, you've now officially suceeded in jailbreaking your device. BUT....... we're not done yet.
We've finished jailbreaking, but we're only halfway into this process.
Okay, now we need to replace a factory file in the iTouch/iPhone. It's Mobileinstallation.framework.
Okay, to do this, you need Total Commander, which can be downloaded here: Code: http://www.ghisler.com
Also, you will need a plug-in for Total Commander, T-Pot. This can be downloaded from here: Code: http://t-pot.googlecode.com/files/T-PoT.1.1.zip
Instructions for installing T-Pot can be found here.
Now that T-Pot in installed, navigate into your iPod/iPhone.
Find the directory "MobileInstallation.framework"
if you're having trouble finding it, this is the directory path: Code: \\\T-PoT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework
When you're finally in the directory, on the left window, navigate to where you unzipped the modified MobileInstallation.framework file to and once you've found it, drag it to your iPod/iPhone.
After you've done that, close Total Commander and restart your iPod Touch/iPhone.
Once the iPod Touch/iPhone has restarted, download a cracked application, and try installing it into the iPod via iTunes. There's no reason why it shouldn't install now.
That's it!! We're done!! Now start downloading cracked applications and enjoy them!
If you found this guide helpful, you know what to do. Download my wallpaper or Thank me. To Mods: Sticky this if you want, as this I feel is a pretty MUST HAVE guide to iPod Touch/iPhone owners.

You need firmware 2.0.1 or higher to get the appstore. Besides, you're better off getting cracked apps/buying from iTunes, as the AppStore isn't up to standard.

With that issue, if you're running Windows Vista, make sure you are running QuickPwn as an administrator. With Windows XP....x///
...try re-downloading an older version and use that instead if you're using XP.

Yea im using windows xp as an administrator but apparently there is no way to jailbreak 2.1.1 (the latest firmware) for the ipod touch and there is no soft unlock for the iphone 3G. I have heard the Dev team for WinPWN and QuickPWN are trying to figure it out but still havent done it. Thanks anyways.
