I barely understand half of what has been written in this entire thread but I'll make the effort to shed a little light on the matter.
The
Money Tree is just a place where users can donate items or NPs that they no longer want. If you are quick enough, you can pick these items up, although the majority of the time, they are just junk and aren't worth anything. Anything that is of value will likely not be donated - they will be sold in shops or traded using the
Trading Post or
Auction House for NPs or items to the same value. Occasionally, Neopets characters such as
Balthazar hold
giveaways at the Money Tree during certain times, when you can pick up faeries and other valuable items. Nine times out of ten however, the Money Tree is not worth your time and you'd be better off visiting the
Rubbish Dump in
Meridell.
If you constantly refresh, the items will not "all appear to be the same". This is a waste of your time. You will need to have a quick internet connection if you want to actually pick anything up successfully - if you spend too much time browsing or looking around, you'll miss your chance. As for the ghosts, you can do nothing to be careful of them. Occasionally the ghosts will donate items as well but they tend to be junk or about 100 to 1,000 NPs. The
Money Tree Ghosts can also appear as random events and will sometimes steal NPs from you to deposit at the Money Tree. There is nothing you can do to prevent these random events from happening. They don't steal much, but if you want to be extra careful, you can always deposit your NPs at the
Bank in
Neopia Central, and your items in your
Safety Deposit Box from within your
Inventory.
I hope that answers any questions you may have.
