April 9, 2007 - Microsoft has announced the details of the upcoming Spring Update to Xbox Live, scheduled to launch on May 7th. The update will add a variety of features to the service, including more detailed Achievement notifications and easier access to XBL Marketplace. The most exciting edition, however, will be the implementation of instant messaging capabilities into the XBL interface.
Windows Live Messenger is, not surprisingly, the supported instant messaging client, and will bring the Xbox 360 into communication with Windows PCs and Windows Mobile portable devices, like the Moto Q. XBL users will be able to have up to six ongoing text conversations with other Windows Live Messenger users while engaged in other 360-activities, like playing games or watching movies.
