Cho Seung-hui (January 18, 1984 – April 16, 2007) was a mass murderer who was a lawful permanent resident of the United States and a South Korean citizen. He murdered 32 people in a shooting rampage termed "the Virginia Tech massacre"[2] which took place on April 16, 2007, on the campus of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States, according to police reports. He committed suicide after law enforcement officers breached the doors of the building in which he had killed 30 of his 32 victims and wounded many more, both faculty and students. Approximately two hours before, he had killed two students in a campus dormitory.
Cho killed two students, Emily J. Hilscher and Ryan C. "Stack" Clark, on the fourth floor of West Ambler Johnston, a high-rise coeducational dorm, around 07:15 EDT (UTC-4);[12] police have not positively stated that Cho was the perpetrator of that shooting in addition to the later one, although forensic evidence confirms that the same gun was used in both shooting incidents.[13] Within the next two and a half hours, Cho returned to his room to re-arm himself, mailed pictures, videos and documents to NBC,[14] and then crossed the campus to continue his rampage in a classroom building, Norris Hall, at 09:45 EDT (UTC-4).[12] Police identified Cho by matching fingerprints on the guns used in the shootings with immigration materials.[2]
The words "Ismail Ax" were found tattooed on his arm (reportedly written in red ink).[15] Police found a receipt for the Glock 19 pistol dated March 13, 2007.[16] Permanent residents in Virginia may legally purchase firearms as long as they provide proof of residency,[17] pass an immediate automated background check,[18] and answer a questionnaire,[19] although Virginia Tech students are forbidden from bringing firearms on campus on threat of expulsion.[20]
As police closed in on him in Norris Hall, Cho committed suicide with a gunshot to his head
Cho's motives for the killings remain unclear.
According to television news reports on April 17, the suicide note police found during the investigation in his dorm room criticizes "rich kids", "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans". Another sentence in the paper read "you caused me to do this."[5]
On April 18, 2007, NBC News received a package, via overnight mail, containing a DVD with twenty-seven video clips, forty-three still pictures (each with individual captions), one audio clip, and a multi-page typewritten manifesto[27]. The pictures, for the most part, depict Cho in military garb wielding an array of weapons, including a hammer, knife, and the two handguns found on his dead body. Some of the pictures are similar to shots from the film Oldboy.[28] The majority of the video depicts Cho reading his manifesto aloud.
The package, addressed from "A. Ishmael" as seen on an image of the USPS Express Mail envelope (incorrectly printed as the Arabic name "Ismail" by The New York Times)[29] and apparently intended to be received on April 17, was delayed due to incorrect zip code and street address. Early reports speculated that Cho Seung-hui was obsessed with fellow student Emily Hilscher and became enraged after his romantic overtures were rejected.[30] There is no evidence that Cho knew Hilscher.[31] Hilscher's roommate, Heather Haugh, knew of no connection between the two students
i think this guy is mass crazyness people ever. he got dumped by his girlfriend and gone up crazy and kill 32 inocent people arround campus.

the stupid part here is after he killed up 2 people in dorm he went home
in that 2 hrs ain't anyone notice and called the polices or FBI
especially those people who also in the dorm, ain't they notice guns fire and dead people. if so why they didn't called police and the mass massacre wouldn't have happened.

You can't blame anyone in this situation except for the shooter... While the cops thought that they had their man, he was out killing more innocent people. But what do the police have to go by except for that? When you hear from someone that someone has a lot of guns in their dorm... what are you going to assume...
