What's this kernel 1.5 that everyone has been talking about? Is it required to play dumped games or only homebrew programs on the 3.71 M33-2?

Not entirely sure since I'm using a Slim and the Slim doesn't need 1.50 kernel. You'll be okay.

Altogether, how many times is the memory stick formatted to get a magic stick? My friend's been saying the stick should be formatted on the PSP first. Then formatted through DOS on the computer. What do you think? Was the PSP format an unsaid instruction or is there no need?

You don't have to format it from the PSP first, but it's suggested. You'll need to format it from DOS though.

Well if it's something that can be done and it won't hurt, I'll definitely do it.

Format your memory stick from the PSP and format it from the Command Prompt after. Quote:

Okay listen.
1. ON YOUR PSP go to "Settings"
2. Go to "Format MemoryStick"
After that is done. Connect your PSP via USB.
Next follow these steps:
1. Go to Start > Run
2. type in "cmd" without the quotation marks
3. take mspformat.exe and drag it into Command Prompt
4. hit the space bar and type the drive letter of your PSP (i.e. K, C, D etc...)
5. Press enter
6. Press y
7. Press enter again
WAIT FOR THE MESSAGE TO TELL YOU THAT THE FORMAT IS COMPLETE.
Then disconnect from USB and continue from there....
