Ok I've seen quite a few posts about these two things recently so this thread is just to clarify for some of the newcomers what points and rep. power are for. I had a search for both of these and threads about them are somewhat hard to find.

Points

Points are the GzN equivalent of currency. You can use points to buy different things in the vbPlaza which is the equivalent of a shop. These are split into nine different types:

Points Options - Options that will do things to transfer points. Like Bank, Donate, etc...
Username Options - Options that you will find here your username.
User Title Options - Options that you will find here affect your user title.
Thread Options - Options that you will find here affect threads.Forum Options - Options that you will find here affect forums.
Immunity Options - Options that you will find here will make you immune to other options.
Avatar Options - Options that affect avatars.
Repuation Options - Options that affect reputation.
Misc. Options - Options that do not fit in any other category

More details can be viewed about each item by clicking on it.

The vbPlaza can be accessed by clicking the tab at the top "vbPlaza Menu" then clicking down to "vbPlaza Main".

You can gain points in the following ways:
Viewing Threads - 1.00 points
Points per thread (creating a new thread) - 15.00 points
Points per reply (posting) - 5.00 points

The quickest way of viewing the number of points you have is by looking to the right of any post that you've made. There should be a little section with information about you where this will be included.

A lot of people put most of their points into the bank where other people can't steal them with the Thief option in the vbPlaza. The bank can be visited by going to the vbPlaza as above then clicking the link for "Enter the Bank".

Rep. Power

Rep. Power or reputation can be obtained by other people giving you rep. This is done by clicking the +rep button which should be at the top of every post. It's a picture of something that looks like a set of scales. As far as I know, rep doesn't actually serve any real purpose except to make you look popular/respected.

Rep points can be purchased from the vbPlaza.

Rep points will decrease by 1 when you use the thief option in the vbPlaza.

Generally people use +rep like the thanks button to show appreciation of a post.
