I would have shown a picture if I knew how.
| With this guide I will get you acquainted with your fellow Post Buttons, the Buttons you will be using in your posts from now until well, you stop using forums ! I will be going from Top Left button to Bottom Right button. These are the buttons I'm talking about. On the top right hand corner of the picture is the first button I will be going over. The function of this button is to Remove Text Formatting. For example I'm just going to randomly pick any other button and use it's effect on this. I just made "this." Bold. If I were to highlight over and click the button then the [ B][/b] which create the Boldness effect would disappear. In other words, it takes away the effect of other buttons for you. You must highlight over EVERYTHING in which you want the effect to disappear. What I mean is you don't just highlight over "this." you highlight over the [ B][/b] also, not just the "this."
That is all you need to learn about that button.
Ignore the space in [ B][/b] . I just used that to make sure that it doesn't give the empty space inbetween a bold effect, thus not being visable. The next one is rather simple and I'm positive that most people have dealt with this. Yes the almighty font key. This is where you get to choose how your writing looks. There are different styles so you can choose the one that fits you best, or which you like the most. Most people just stick with the default font though. Here are all the fonts.
When you scroll through the fonts you see how they will make your text look. For example the first three: Arial Arial Black
Arial Narrow The fonts show you their different effects. To add a font you highlight over the letters which you want in that font. Then you scroll through the fonts and choose your desired one. We will now be moving onto the next button which is . This button is used to change the size of your font. It works exactly like the Fonts. The sizes are as follows:
As you see it is the exact same thing, it tells you the size and shows you how big the size is! Implementing the size into your writing is also the same, you highlight the thing in which you want the size changed, then you scroll through the sizes and pick which ever one you want! Moving on we have the Color button, . This button also goes along with the fonts and sizes in the way that it modifies your text. In this case it changes the color of your text. Here are all the choosable colors. To change colors of your text you highlight over the text which you want to have a different color, then you look through the different colors and choose one! As you see I enjoy posting in the color red, but hey thats just me. The next button would be the smilies button, ! This button allows you to insert a facial expression where the vertical bar (The thing that shows you where you are typing, it blinks) is located. There are many expressions, and here they are. You can find these by clicking the button up on the top or off to the side, located on the right. To insert the smiley you just click the wanted smiley. Attachment button time, . This button is very important for all you uploaders out there. When you click this button you get a pop-up which looks like this:
Basically if you want to upload from your computer you click choose file, then choose a file. Afterwords you click upload once all the files you want are chosen. Or an alternative would be the upload through a link, which is also fine. At the bottom is the key that shows what formats you can upload. So keep those in mind. I'm only showing the buttons and their uses though so I won't wander on about that subject. This time I will be showing the next couple buttons in pairs of 2's/3's. The next buttons are the Undo/Redo buttons, . These are probably the most simple buttons you will come across. The Undo button Undos what you did in the post box (The white area in which you do your post), while the Redo button Redos what you did, so lets say you press the Undo button by accident the Redo button is there so that you can get back your work which you lost when you pressed the Undo button. Like I said, the simplest buttons you will encounter. Moving on to the Decrease/Increase buttons, . What these do is they enlarge and reduce the size of the white box in which you make your post. The arrow facing up decreases the size of the box, while the arrow facing down increases the size of the box. You can experiment that on your own time. The next 3 buttons modify your text. The buttons are . The B bolds your text. The I italicizes your text. The U underlines your text. Remember that you need to highlight what you want Bolded/Italicized/Underlined.
The next buttons don't affect the text directly, but instead they affect where your text is and how it looks. are the buttons that affect your texts position. I will explain these quickily.
The first one alligns the text on the left, but not the right. The second one starts it off from the center, and gives it a nice poetic format. The third one is the opposite from the first one, it alligns the text on the right, but not the right. Quick note, you might notice I'm not explaining these as in depth as the previous ones, thats due to the fact that I'm getting bored. The next 2 are numbers and bullets, . These basically list make a list of everything, if you click them you get a pop up like this:
You type in 1 thing, then press okay. Then type in another thing, press okay. The cycle continues until you want your list to stop. When your done with your list you press cancel, and congrats, your list is complete. The difference between these 2 buttons is that the first one numbers them, the second one just replaces the number with a circle.
The next two buttons are indents, . An indent is equivilant to pressing the tab bar in Microsoft Word. The first button decreases the amount of the indent while the second button increases the amount of the indent. Woohoo! 6 buttons to go, I'm going to try and breeze through these, I'm real tired and bored right now so sorry if this feels rushed.
I'm going to do the next 4 at the same time. These are the next 4 buttons . The first one adds a link, so all you have to do is put yahoo.com in the button and it will give a link to yahoo.com once you have posted. The second one removes links such as it would remove the link for yahoo.com like I just stated, the third one is to add e-mail addresses incase they are ever needed and the fourth one is to insert images, such as I'm doing right now with all the images. 2 Buttons to go woo!
I'm going to say the next 2 together, to finish this all up! , these are the buttons, they basically quote what you are saying. I really don't notice the difference between them other then font, but thats just me.
We have just concluded learning about Post Button Functions, congratulations. I hope this helped you in anyway.
