*update in general tips*
1. Types of Swordsman
Person Killer (PK) swordsman is mainly effective for people who make warriors as their main character. With a good item build, other classes find it hard to land a hit on the swordsman. Also due to good balance of move and attack speed, it is easy to back stab your opponent before he can run away.
Golem Killer (GK) swordsman is more useful for people who have a swordsman character as his second character. As the swordsman original stats already include a good mix of attack and move speed, range and cell destruction (CD) is all that is required to kill the enemy’s golem. However due to GK swordsman's low amour and energy, tons of potions and good cells are required to win battles.
2. Swordsman Stat Allocation
PK swordsman should focus on pumping attack speed first for the first 50 stat points (SP), so in levels 11-30 he can stun grip which should take out around 1/3-1/4 of opponent’s health. Basic or grip then can be added for 50 SP depending on personal preference. (I prefer basic due to the length of sword). Then move speed should be added for 50 SP, then in amour and energy spend your next 100 SP with 1 SP in amour for every 1 SP in energy. For the other stats you get is mainly up to the player, you can choose to go for a hybrid build now with stats in range, special and cell destruction or carry on with your PKer build and max your speed, basic, grip, amour and energy. GK swordsman should add range for your first 50 SP, because range can also be used to kill your opponents unlike CD, then if you have good cells add CP for around 25-30 SP. Then put 50 SP to CD and then in amour and energy spend your next 100 SP with 1 SP in amour for every 1 SP in energy. After this you should be an efficient GK swordsman thus you can go for a hybrid build (refer to above) or max all your GK swordsman stats.
Note: fighting other characters is ideally for hybrids and PK swordsman
3. versus Mage
One of the easiest characters to fight seeing as how your balanced speed and damage can counter mages high damage and average move speed. Mages have two types, mainly basic mages which have good attack and move speed as well as a painful basic, and range mages which pump most of there stats into range amour and energy. In fighting basic mages if you already have 50 SP in attack speed or more, stun gripping should not be a problem, so fake a special then go to the mage’s back stun him and complete your stun grip. Since basic mages are quite efficient in stun gripping, once a mage manages to stun you, the best course of action is to jump backwards immediately; the mage will then do his hurricane move and then throw a dagger at him before he finishes his move. After this switching your dagger back to your sword may be complicated because the delay time allows the mage to land a few hits on you, so I look for a raised platform and jump on it before changing my sword. If the mage is noob enough to try and ice you quickly go and stun grip him. (I do not encourage basic attack on mages because some mages have a 3rd basic bug where swordsman 3rd basic does not hit the mage). Range mages are much easier to fight, but if the mage is pro enough, it is recommended that you avoid his ices at all costs (one ice can take away 3 quarters- all your amour). Other than that, wait for him to ice and then execute a stun grip, or if the mage is in range form you can basic him without fear of the 3rd basic bug.(Note: range mages somehow cannot do 3rd basic bug as easily as basic mages, and 3rd basic bug does not always work)
4. versus Ninja
Ninja’s can be deadly due to their extremely painful back grips and deadly attack speed. Or godly range attacks with (I ran outta adjectives) move speed. But I have found a reasonable way to fight them without appearing as a turtle (keep waiting for them to attack). For those grip ninja’s, you have to go around their side and then do two basic, the 3rd basic never seems to hit. And if they manage to get you into their stun lock, predict where their next stun will land, look at that direction and hold down shield. If the ninja knows this trick he/she will either keep front gripping or try for a second basic, the best way to counter this is to once you see the ninja hit you in your guard form with a basic, immediately counter with a grip. ( People call this block gripping and judge it as being a noob skill but the only other way is to have extremely high attack speed( 100 SP) and just continue with your basic.) Range ninja are even more a pain in the ass but I find they rely on their speed too much and do not add much amour and energy. Thus when fighting them watch out for their walking to the back attacks. (It’s very hard to explain in words.) But unfortunately unless you can aim rather well with your jump attacks, I find the best method is to be a turtle or do a lot of fake specials.
5. versus Swordsman
Fighting another swordsman can be a daunting task, but with a good sword slaying them will be easy. I rely on my length of sword to fight them (the frozen swords are the longest) thus when the other swordsman does a basic I immediately press forward and do a basic combo. This may not work if the swordsman has a sword as long as yours and the way I do to counter him is to go around the back and backstab him. As long as you remain confident in your ability to defeat the enemy swordsman usually (unless he has too many stats) you should be able to win.
6. versus Blacksmith
Blacksmiths are probably your worst nightmare seeing as how their combination of thick amour and crushing damage can kill of any hope of you surviving. But I discovered that due to their horrible move speed with a few swings (forward+ forward+ right mouse button) blacksmith’s should find it hard to fight back.
7. versus Archer
Probably in the same class as mages in difficulty of killing, a good archer can combine elements of range ninja, thus just follow the tips above.
8. General tips
1) Special is always more painful then grip (unless you pumped grip) thus if your enemy cannot attack (rise up attack, or spinning) you should always special.
2) Blacksmith’s basic attack will always be higher than the swordsman’s basic because blacksmith’s basic attack can damage both amour and energy, while swordsman’s basic can only damage amour and a bit of energy, thus rely more on speed than on damage.
3) This thread does not encourage chain spinning which is spinning your enemy for prolonged periods of time, fighting blacksmith’s only require a few spins(2-3) before you must rely on your faster speed and wits to kill the blacksmith.
4) (works only when fighting Blacksmith, swordsman, archer, mage) if your opponent does a rising up attack, quickly do you front stab(forward directional key, forward directional key, left mouse button) and a bug will occur where your opponent cannot hit you. Quickly change to guard form, wait for your opponent to hit you then do you basic combo or stun grip.( if your opponent knows what your doing he may attempt to do an immediate grip.)
5) Once you knock your opponent down, go around his South East position( his head is the North, but due to some bug some times his head may be South. Just watch where he falls and predict) once he does his rising up attack quickly go in to a swing, and if your in luck and there is a wall near you, swing him to the wall and do a special( Note: the special may miss and if the opponent presses jump the special will only hit him once, thus allowing him to do a rising up attack against you)
