a (not very good solution) is to get their ip (using messenger plus scripts) , and then pinging their PC. sometimes their msn may be off though. and you have to constantly update ur ip list if the person uses a dynamic one

there isnt a proper way up to now (to my knowledge)
if you manage to find the person appearing offline , the person may actually be ONLINE but their msn is offline
