After receiving a few newsletters in our inboxes today, GameSpy discovered that GameStop (and by logical extension, EB Games), Best Buy and Wal-Mart have dropped the price of the PSP Core hardware by $30, thereby bringing the price down from $199.99 to $169.99. All subsequent hardware bundles on Wal-Mart.com, including the PSP Entertainment Pack, which contains ATV Off-Road Fury: Blazin’ Trails, a 1 GB memory stick, and a UMD copy of "Lords of Dogtown," have also dropped in price.


While we’ve contacted Sony for official confirmation of a price drop, we have not heard back as of press time. Also, while three of the biggest gaming retailers in the US have updated their websites with new pricing for the PSP, visits to Amazon and Target revealed the same $199.99 SKU. Could this mean an official price drop is on the horizon for Sony’s little machine? Stay tuned!
