With Activision Blizzard dubbing Sierra Online a "non-strategic business unit," the future looks grim for the former Vivendi Games subsidiary. However, though the megapublisher has a mind to unload the label, Sierra Online has at least a few more projects under its wing, and is prepping to push one such project out of the nest next month.

The online-centric publisher said this week that Red Baron Arcade will be available for download through Sony’s PlayStation Network beginning on September 18. Pricing information was not revealed. However, Sierra Online did note that a free demo of the game that features online play for up to eight will be released day and date with the full version.

A period piece, Red Baron Arcade lets gamers enlist as a member of Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen’s elite fighter-plane unit, battling to advance the cause of Kaiser Wilhelm II during World War I. The game features "WWI-themed" aircraft, and players can either test their mettle against computer-controlled opponents or online in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag modes for up to eight.
