SimCity and The Sims 3 Coming to iPhone
Posted by Rei, 76 days ago 06/09/2008

Just as we find out that 1UP’s PC gaming godfather Jeff Green is abandoning us to go work for Electronic Arts, the company announces (via a Gizmodo story) that both The Sims 3 and SimCity are coming to the iPhone. Coincidence? Well yes, probably.

EA is throwing its considerable weight behind Apple’s portable device, announcing nine new iPhone titles today. Besides the aforementioned SimCity and The Sims 3, EA lined up Yahtzee Adventures, EA Mini Golf, Lemonade Tycoon, Mahjong, Monopoly: Here and Now, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, and Need for Speed Undercover. The company also announced that Spore Origins will be hitting the iPhone on September 7, the same day as its Mac and PC counterparts (though that may not be so exciting when you take our review of the mobile game into account).

With more support coming in constantly, the iPhone continues to plot its own course to the gaming landscape. But it’s quality, not quantity, that makes a game platform a hit. If nothing else, let’s just hope this portable incarnation of SimCity is more fun than the last one. Jeff, get on that.
